The Agricultural Research Centre for International Development, is a French agricultural research organization working for developing countries and the French overseas regions. CIRAD comprises 1,800 employees including 800 researchers. Its mandate is to contribute to sustainable development in these regions through research, trials, training and the dissemination of scientific and technical information. From its regional offices, CIRAD conducts joint operations with more than 90 countries. CIRAD's activities involve life sciences, social sciences and engineering, applied to agriculture, food and rural areas.
