D1.3 Working paper on the thematic gaps for possibly relevant future joint research

In line with the projects goals, this analysis identifies the climate action, resource efficiency and raw materials topics which are/have the subject of research in ASEAN countries or the EU. More significantly, this analysis sheds light upon the work that is not being done, and where it is not being done, thus determining areas which are worthy of more specific support.

This paper contains 6 chapters. Chapter 1 provides an introduction to the SUSTAIN EU-­‐ASEAN project and in particular this gap analysis. This chapter also provides key facts and figures about EU and ASEAN, and further relevant background information of ASEAN. Chapter 2 addresses the situations of climate and resource issues in ASEAN and possible collaboration with EU. Chapter 3 discusses the situations of the climate and resource issues in EU and possible matching of European expertise with potential gaps in ASEAN. Chapter 4 presents the analysis of recent and current projects in the relevant topics and identification of potential thematic and geographical gaps. Summary and references of this paper are presented in Chapter 5 and 6, respectively.
