Expand the SWAMP network on peatland and wetland research to Europe

A Joint Activity of the University of Leicester, UK, FAO, Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) Indonesia,

Thünen Institute of Climate-Smart Agriculture, Germany CIFOR wants to make use of the offered granting opportunity to expand its networks to research partners particularly in Europe. CIFOR already collaborates with many partners in Europe but sees scope to expand particularly the SWAMP network by interacting with partners in Europe on methods, network building and data exchange, with expected benefits to both sides, as tropical and temperate peatland and wetland research complement each other and can learn from common problems, developing standardized methods, e.g. for faster, cheaper and reliable carbon and biodiversity estimation, and the broader questions of assessments of ecosystem services and of livelihoods.
